` John B Watson In 1878 John B Watson was born to Emma and Pickens Watson. A poor family in Greenville, South Carolina, his mother was very religious. John s father, with whom he was closer, did not follow the same rules of living as his mother. He drank, had extra-marital affairs, and left in 1891. Eventually John married Mary Ikes whom he met at the University of Chicago. Together they had two children, Mary and John. And, like his father, had affairs with a number of women. John and Mary finally divorced and he married one of his graduate students, Rosalie Rayner They had two more children, James and William. John focused much of his study of behaviorism on his children. After Rosalie s death, his already poor relationships with his children grew worse and he became a recluse. He lived on a farm in Connecticut until his death in 1958. The absence of his father took it s toll on John. He rebelled against his mother and teachers and turned to violence. John was able to turn his life back around with the help of his teacher, Gordon Moore, at Furman University. With Moore s help, John was able to succeed and moved on to the University of Chicago. It was there that he became interest in the field of comparative psychology and studying animals. He wrote his dissertation about the relation between behavior in the white rat and the growth of the nervous system. Adolescent people, however, are more prone to depressed mood rather than the old folks. In fact, roughly 5 to 15 percent of adolescents experienced symptoms associated to clinical depression (Kaplan, Aguirre, and Rater 48). Kaplan, Aguirre, and Rater present a fascinating list of symptoms marked in adolescent depression. Now, I may not be a teenager but I am categorically a young adult. Present Tense Verb Conjugations of German Regular Verbs The regular German verbs follow a  predictable pattern  in the present tense. Once you learn the pattern for one regular German verb, you know how all German verbs are conjugated. Yes, there are  irregular verbs  that dont always follow the rules, but even they will usually have the same endings as the regular verbs. The majority of German verbs are regular, even though it may not seem that way since many commonly used verbs are strong (irregular) verbs. The chart below lists two sample regular German verbs. All regular German verbs will follow the same pattern. We have also included a helpful list of the more common stem-changing verbs. These are verbs that follow the normal pattern of endings, but have a vowel change in their stem or base form (hence the name stem-changing). The verb endings for each pronoun are indicated in  bold  type. The Basics Each verb has a basic infinitive (â€Å"to†) form. This is the form of the verb you find in a German dictionary. The verb â€Å"to play† in English is the infinitive form (â€Å"he playsâ€Å" is a conjugated form). The German  equivalent of â€Å"to play† is  spielen. Each verb also has a stem form, the basic part of the verb left after you remove the -en  ending. For  spielen  the stem is  spiel. These are the basic characteristics that can be proved management is a science, but not exactly. Management as an art requires no specific body of knowledge, only skill. Conversely, those who believe management is an art are likely to believe that there is no specific way to teach or understand management, and that it is a skill borne of personality and ability. One more reason for considering management as an art is that in many situations, practicing managers are unlikely to believe that scientific principles and theories will be able to implement in actual managerial situations. Instead, these managers are likely to consider a broad range of social and political factors, and likely to take different actions depending on the context of the problem. And application of management knowledge calls for innovativeness and creativity. In this case managers go on discovering new ideas, relationships and more efficient ways of doing things. Both views of management, as a science or as an art, can provide ample evidence to support heir viewpoints, and they all seem correct and reasonable from their perspective. But an efficient manager has to acquire a theoretical knowledge of management and subsequently, use it to develop it and, gather experience. Vergerius essays Petrus Paulus Vergerius and Todays Society Many of the disciplines that were discussed in the Vergerius packet are similar to the disciplines in todays society. He discusses how education is the most important duty that a parent owes to his child. Although he explains three duties that a parent should owe to their child, he explains that education is the most important one. This is because you need to start at an early age. There are many different lessons to learn along with education. The first one that Vergerius discusses is that every man must choose for himself. Explaining a situation, he writes, Our name, our birthplace, are not of our own choice. Progress in learning, on the other hand, as in character, depends largely on ourselves, and brings with it its own abiding reward (96). He explains that in order to do well in school and get a good education, one must have the motivation or desire to choose to do so. That is something that can only come from the individual rather than its surroundings. He continues to explain that you can help a person find their motivation by giving them an incentive. Describing this he states: Let the promise of the future be consistent with your performance in the past (96). This means whatever you choose now will affect your future in a positive or negative way. This applies to today because if you do well in school you are better off living a good life and if you dont do well in school you are more prone to not live such a gre at life. Further Vergerius explains the more specific disciplines for a boys educational experience. He talks about how a child is not only taught by the school but by the government as well. Explaining this Vergerius writes, For the education of children is a matter of more than private interest; it concerns the state, which indeed regards the right training of the young as, in certain aspects, within its prope...
